Jordan and Arina’s story began long before they became a couple, first meeting at just 13 and spending their early high school years as friends. Years later, a chance reunion at a housewarming brought them back into each other’s lives, leading to camping trips, new memories and the beginning of something more. From a proposal in the quiet streets of Kyoto to designing the rings that would mark their next chapter, we’re honoured to have played a small part in their journey. Now, we’re so excited to share their story.
Their Journey
Jordan and I (Arina) first met in our first year of high school when we were 13. We had so many classes together and became friends pretty quickly. As we got into our senior years, we chose different subjects and naturally began to drift as we went our separate ways after high school.
Fast forward to 2022, we rekindled our friendship at Jordi's housewarming party. The theme was to dress up as something starting with the letter "J" I went as Jim from The Office, while Jordi went as a janitor!
During the 'talking phase', Jordi took me camping and organised everything himself, from packing the car, to setting up camp and cooking. I had never properly been camping before (only glamping!), so I was a little nervous. But I remember how attentive, kind and considerate Jordi was throughout the whole trip. I remember sitting around the campfire thinking, "Oh no... I really like this guy!" And what made me realise how much I liked him was that, even though we were outdoors with only the campfire keeping us from complete darkness, bugs everywhere, no shower or proper toilet, I was genuinely so happy and comfortable being with him and the whole experience. I had so much fun.
When he told me during that trip that he wanted us to be exclusive, I was incredibly happy. Looking back, I think that was one of the first moments I realised there was something really special about Jordi.
The Beginning of Forever
I (Jordan) had it all planned out, to propose in the beautiful stone side streets of Kyoto during cherry blossom season. However, even early in the morning, the streets were absolutely packed full of tourists! I didn't want to propose in front of hundreds of strangers. We walked around for a fairly long time, trying to find a quiet place to propose. Arina though, was absolutely clueless because we had previously had 30,000-step days. Luckily, the night before we had gone on a night tour of Kyoto, and the tour guide showed us a very secluded beautiful lookout. When we got there I had suggested we take a self-timer photo together (something I would rarely suggest doing) - the rest is history!
Discover Their Dream Rings
From the very first time I briefly browsed the TMC site, I (Arina) always had The Mae Ring saved as a potential. I did explore with other bands, had phases where I liked other ones, but in the end, I kept coming back to the Mae ring!
I think what made me gravitate towards this ring from the start was that it was timeless. I love timeless and understated jewellery, because I feel it doesn't have to be super 'blingy' or eye-catching to be beautiful. I have a very timeless engagement ring, and l feel like the Mae Ring compliments it, rather than compete with it.
My favourite part of the Mae Ring is definitely the subtle inset diamonds. I love that whilst the Mae Ring is understated, it's not 'boring' - the small diamonds are such intentional details, which I personally believe is what makes it beautiful and unique.
I love that from a distance, it looks classic and minimal, but when you look closely, you notice the little diamonds and that extra sparkle. It makes you pause throughout your day and really appreciate it, which I love doing, every time. Those little details are what makes it feel really special to me.
