Our Coloured Lab-Grown Diamonds
For those seeking something beyond a traditional white diamond, our coloured lab-grown diamonds have a distinctive beauty and depth to them - as one of a kind as their mined counterparts.
At TMC Fine Jewellers, we offer an exquisite range of champagne, pink, yellow, green, blue, red, grey and black coloured lab-grown diamonds. This range is hand selected by our Chief Gemstone Expert, alongside our Co-Founder, to ensure you are receiving the highest quality gemstone for your heirloom piece.
Grading Fancy Coloured Diamonds
The International Gemological Institute (IGI) grades fancy coloured diamonds using a three-part system: Hue, Tone and Saturation.
Together, tone and saturation determine the colour strength, with classifications such as light, intense, deep, or vivid. The scale ranges from faint (a minimal trace of colour) through to fancy deep (the darkest and most saturated tones). Below, you’ll find our range of coloured lab-grown diamonds, with examples across the grading scale from faint through to fancy deep.
Champagne (Brown)
Champagne lab-grown diamonds range from light golden-brown to deep cognac tones. Their warmth makes them a popular choice for those seeking a subtle but distinctive alternative to colourless diamonds.
Pink
Pink lab-grown diamonds can be sourced in delicate blush hues through to vivid, saturated pinks. Natural pink diamonds are among the rarest in the world, making their lab-grown counterparts an incredible statement for your heirloom piece whilst being both more attainable and ethical.
Yellow
Yellow lab-grown diamonds are the most common fancy colour, available in shades such as canary, greenish-yellow, orange-yellow, and brownish-yellow. Their bright hue adds warmth and individuality, making them a truly unique choice for your forever piece.
Green
Green lab-grown diamonds can range from delicate, light hues to deeper mossy tones, depending on the gemstone’s tone and saturation. Their colour develops through unique growth conditions that influence the crystal structure, making green diamonds a rare and distinctive choice.
Blue
Natural blue diamonds are exceptionally scarce, with the most famous example being the 45.52ct Hope Diamond, admired for its intense, vivid colour and rich history. When opting for a lab-grown alternative, blue diamonds also are among the rarest colours, available in shades from pale sky blue to rich, deep navy.
Red
Extremely rare in both mined and lab-grown form, red lab-grown diamonds boast a beautiful, distinct colour caused by specific distortions in the crystal lattice.
Grey and Black
Black lab-grown diamonds are opaque with a high lustre, often featuring inclusions that give them their distinctive appearance. Grey lab-grown diamonds, by contrast, range from soft silver tones to deeper charcoal shades.
Coloured Lab-Grown Diamonds vs Natural Coloured Diamonds
Coloured lab-grown diamonds are chemically and optically identical to natural coloured diamonds. The main differences lie in origin, price and sustainability.
Coloured lab-grown diamonds are grown in a laboratory using advanced technology rather than mined. Lab diamonds are differentiated by their responsible creation above ground, using advanced technology that emulates the natural growth process of a mined diamond.
Cost is often a significant factor when deciding between mined and lab grown diamonds. Simply put, mined diamonds are more expensive than lab grown diamonds, due to the labour-intensive mining process and rarity of larger carat size. On the contrary, coloured lab grown diamonds have a more efficient production cost, which translates directly to a more affordable product.
At TMC, we utilise moissanite and cultured diamonds because they are the more sustainable gemstone option. Choosing a lab grown gemstone saves over 65 kgs of CO2, 57 kgs of air pollution and 227 tons of earth, and doesn't require the destruction of vital ecosystems as a direct result from mining.
