Our 4Cs: Consultation, CAD, Craft and Completion
When designing an heirloom piece, most people are taught to look for the 4Cs, cut, colour, clarity and carat. Important markers of quality, yes, but they only tell part of the story. What they don’t capture is the design process, the craftsmanship and the one-of-a-kind journey that brings it to life.
At TMC Fine Jewellers, we journey with you. We believe the 4Cs are not just found under a loupe, but they’re also experienced throughout the journey itself. Introducing TMC’s 4Cs: Consultation, CAD, Craft and Completion. A considered process designed to honour your vision, reflect quality craftsmanship, and create an heirloom piece that is uniquely yours.
Our Signature Process allows you to select a ring design from our Signature Range that has been carefully curated by our Founder, Makayla and then further customise the piece to your liking. With our design, you lead the way choosing each intricate detail. Whether you’re creating an engagement ring, ceremonial ring, or a piece of fine jewellery, every design is constructed on the principles of timelessness, elegance and attention to detail.
Here’s what you can expect from your journey with TMC…
01 Consultation or Conversation
At TMC Fine Jewellers, we offer limited, by appointment-only consultations, providing an intimate and personalised experience with one of our expert Jewellery Consultants. Whether in one of our showrooms, or online, a consultation with us is simply an experience to discover what you love, what you feel suits your unique personal style, and to spark ideas.
Our expert consultants are dedicated to guiding you through the process of designing an heirloom piece, unique to you. You’ll learn about our process, our craft (inclusive of the other 4Cs), and what you can expect if you wish to begin your journey with us. This is your opportunity to discover your dream heirloom piece, immerse yourself in the artistry of our craftsmanship, and ask every question you desire. During a consultation, the time is yours, and we are here to support you on your journey.
After your consultation, you will receive an email outlining all your most loved pieces, design specifications and pricing, alongside a guide which outlines all the details on our process and your guide to bringing your vision to life.

02 CAD
If you have chosen to design a ring from our Signature Range, or co-create a custom piece, you will receive a computer-aided design (CAD). This is a technical drawing of your ring design, outlining your chosen specifications. This step ensures that your dream piece is created with precision and aligns perfectly with your vision.
Your CAD can be amended as many times as you feel necessary, and we will reflect the changes you have made through updated CAD variations.
As you review your CAD, we recommend paying close attention to details such as gemstone size, band width, setting style and ring size, as well as ensuring that any bespoke customisations, including engraving, hidden birthstones or hidden halos, are accurately represented.
Please note that in the CAD, prongs will appear upright rather than folded over the stone. This is intentional, as the CAD file serves as the technical blueprint used to create the perfect wax model of your ring, and the setting must remain open for the gemstone to be placed. Once the stone is positioned during the setting process, the prongs are then carefully folded over to secure it in place.
Once you receive your CAD, you will have 3 days to provide your approval, or communicate any amendments you would like made. If we don’t receive confirmation within this timeframe, your design will automatically progress to the production phase to ensure your beautiful piece is crafted and ready for you within your chosen timeframe.
03 Craft
A thousand-year-old craft meets modern sustainable practices and design. Proudly crafted in Australia, each piece is created with intention, unrivalled craftsmanship, and most importantly, passion.
Crafted in Australia is more than a statement, it is the heart of who we are. From the first sketch to the final polish, our jewellery begins and ends in our Australian workshops. Every piece is imagined, designed, and crafted with passion and dedication, reflecting your vision, your values, and your forever.
At TMC, tradition is not left behind but carried forward, refined, reimagined, and made modern. This is where origins become legacy. Where timeless design meets ethical innovation. Where jewellery transforms into heirloom. Always, crafted in Australia.

04 Completion
Upon your ring’s completion, you will receive communication from our team. This is inclusive of a video of your piece so you can see just how beautiful your finished piece is. We will also include any relevant shipping information or support you in arranging a time to collect your ring from our Brisbane, Sydney or Melbourne Showrooms.
If you are collecting your piece from one of our showrooms, you can secure a Ring Collection consultation. During this consultation, you will collect your finished TMC piece from our showroom, where we ensure every detail is perfect, and our experts guide you through care and answer any questions you may have.
Consultation, CAD, Craft and Completion are more than steps in a process, it is a journey. Each decision, detail and design moment is shaped with care, meaning and intention. From the first conversation to the final polish, we journey with you.
